Berger believes that a beautiful question is something that can’t be put into a search engine and be answered with a simple click. In order to see why his opinion on questions matter, Berger is a great questioner. He created this theory of what makes a beautiful question, it makes you think, it can’t simply be answered. This is a beautiful question because it doesn’t matter how far we’ve come in terms of women empowerment this is always going to be a question that I hold in the back of my mind. It doesn’t matter how many degrees we have, how smart we are, or how hard we work, women will always be placed on a lower pedestal than a man. Even in fields where women predominately work such as teachers or nurses, men will make more than us. And even in terms of homemaking, which was traditionally seen as a woman’s place, if she doesn’t know how to cook or clean correctly then she’s not up to par to where a woman is supposedly supposed to be. It’s also astounding how they’re not paid for this, and some people consider it a woman’s “place” to stay at home. How can you tell a woman she’s not doing her job right, and not consider what she’s doing a job?  I chose this question because I feel like it’s something that should continue to be questioned. While there is an acknowledgment that women aren’t seen in the same light as men there are still a lot of questions to be asked to find out why. Why should a woman be substandard to a man? Besides having different genitalia, what’s the differing factor that makes them so much greater than us.

Because even if we’re looking at it from a historical standpoint that’s not a good enough reason for me. Historically men were the providers of the household, while women were left to take care of the home. This has ingrained these roles that men and women play in society for decades and makes it very hard to move forward in a society that historically placed women on the back burner. Yet, looking back when men went off to fight wars, who was left to run businesses, take care of the home, make sure everything was running smoothly? Women showed that they were capable of doing the same jobs as men and in cases surpassing what a man had the capability of doing. It has been seen time, and time again that women have the mental capacity to do most things a man can, also why are they still second-class citizens. Why is it that even in 2019 women are still fighting for equal pay?  Fighting for their ideas to matter just as much as a man’s, to have the same opportunity for promotions and recognition in the workplace and academics as a man?
