This collection of work was the final project for Art 160. The theme for these pieces was movement, some of the pieces show that theme more than others. I feel that these pieces, may have been some of my more successful pieces from the semester.

The use of color throughout all six pieces fit together and apart and seem to give off a feeling of comfort. Most of the pieces were created using acrylic ink, while some had elements of acrylic paint, collage, and charcoal.

The two most successful pieces would have to be the collage on the black background and the piece that looks as if the person is moving on the multi-colored background. I feel that the collage is a success based off the work that went into along with the affect it has. The black background doesn’t overpower it, while the white frame makes it the focus without becoming too much and making the piece seem empty. Along with the light wash of the acrylic ink it creates a place that draws the eye to the figure and its shape. The dancing piece is successful because it displays the theme in the best way. Along with the slight outline around it and two smaller heads (blurs) it just makes you think of movement.

The piece that could be better would have to be the piece with the figure bent over backwards. I’d like to make the shadow darker; I feel that with the other colors in the piece it makes the shadow looked washed out. Along with making the shadow darker I would also make use of brighter colors for that piece.

All the pieces had a success in them and something that made me proud of the piece. Overall, I was happy with this collection of work and while changes could’ve been made it would’ve only made them better and wouldn’t have been a complete overhaul of the piece.
